Thank you for the Foundation’s success in 2007…This time of year allows us a special opportunity to give thanks for our many blessings. With the end of the year and the commencing of a new year, we can  review the goals we have accomplished and make resolutions for the new year. For many, resolutions include charitable giving. I have made a resolution to continue supporting Valley General Hospital and “true community medicine.

2007 Highlights

  • 12th Annual Joseph Feek Memorial Golf Tournament raised $24,000
  • 15th Annual Classic Car Raffle sold over 10,000 tickets
  • Capital Project donated $64,000 to fund new generation Maternal/ Fetal monitoring system for the Birth center

Capital Campaign – Foundation Raises $64,000
Capital Campaign – Foundation Raises $64,000 Thanks to the generosity of Valley General Hospital Foundation donors, Sherri Williams Foundation President, presented a $64,000 check to VGH Leadership on February, 5 2008 to fund four Maternal/Fetal monitors in the birth center. “Our new Maternal/Fetal monitoring system allows us to continue to deliver the high standard of care our patients expect of us. These monitors are the same ones available in hospitals much larger than ours. We appreciate the ability to work with this new technology.” Richard Rybarczyk, MD, Monroe Women’s Care Center. 

Oncology Patient Comfort Program
In 2007 the Foundation designated funds to establish an Oncology Patient Comfort program to provide cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment with personal DVD players, programs, meal service and snacks.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our oncology program. Yesterday, at Cancer Committee, Dr. Congdon could not say enough about the difference it makes to the patients to have a diversion during chemotherapy. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

2007 – 2008 Ongoing Projects:

  • Oncology Patient Comfort Program
  • Uncompensated Prescription Medication Funding provides Emergency Services and inpatients in need with the prescription medications that are necessary when they are discharged from the hospital
  • Staff Continuing Education Scholarships supports hospital staff in pursuing training to provide the highest quality of care
