Volunteer at Valley General Hospital

Have you ever wanted to give back to your community and not known how? Are you retired or not currently employed, and looking to spend time providing a meaningful service to the members of your community?

The volunteer program at Valley General Hospital produces close to 10,000 hours of community service each year. The value of this time is worth much more than the dollars saved – volunteers allow the hospital to continue to provide caring service and a personal approach by “keeping quality healthcare close to home.”

By becoming a volunteer at Valley General, you commit to 50 hours of service a year, which are set in four hour shifts or approximately one half day a week. You will gain these hours by volunteering in a variety of positions such as: assisting staff on the medical surgical unit, greeting visitors in the lobby, providing basic office assistance and assisting in the hospital gift shop.

Students (both college and high school) have found volunteering to be ideal when used as an introduction for those interested in careers in the medical field. Hospital volunteers are an invaluable part to the operation of this organization. The benefits are mutual to both parties involved. A volunteer gains valuable experience and educational skills as well as provides an opportunity to give back to the community and meet great people.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer (must be at least 15 years in age) at Valley General Hospital and would like an application to be sent to you, please contact Volunteer Services at 360-794-7497 ext. 6300 or via E-mail.
